Welcome to the Sheldon Art Galleries, celebrating our 10th anniversary season! Founded in 1998,
the Sheldon Art Galleries are a part of the Sheldon Arts Foundation, a not-for profit organization in St. Louis that is
also home to the world-class Sheldon Concert Hall built in 1912. Located in the heart of Grand Center, St. Louis's vibrant
cultural district, the Galleries feature over 7,000 square of space devoted to changing exhibitions of painting, printmaking,
photography, architecture, sculpture, installation work, jazz history and children's art.
The mission of the Sheldon Art Galleries is to promote the appreciation of the visual arts by presenting high-quality and
diverse exhibitions in an intimate setting; to present a broad range of genres that inspire discovery, learning and wonder
which engage the St. Louis community and beyond with changing exhibitions and programs; and to support the Sheldon Arts
Foundation's mission by fostering both music and the visual art. To this end we present over 20 exhibitions yearly of national,
international and regional importance in the intimate setting of the historic facilities of the Sheldon Arts Foundation. Though
we do not have a permanent collection, we operate as a museum, collaborating with a host of local, national and international
institutions and individuals in the non-profit and commercial art world. In addition to the over 20 free exhibitions that we
mount yearly, we also offer education programs such as Tuesday Evening Gallery Talks, Lunchtime Lectures in Architecture and
Master Class Workshops for children, which support our mission to nurture a love of the arts.
Join us this year for a diverse group of exhibitions that we hope will inspire discovery, learning and wonder in all who visit us!
